Markets:
U.S. stock futures were little changed Tuesday morning after the Dow Jones Industrial Average notched a fresh all-time high.
Investors are coming off a second consecutive day of gains. The 30-stock Dow added 0.04%, setting new intraday and closing records. The S&P 500 advanced roughly 0.5%, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.9%.
Technology stocks led Monday’s rally, extending Friday’s rebound and helping lift the broader market. Optimism is growing that the market can sustain its upward momentum after last week’s sell-off — driven largely by fears around software and megacap tech — failed to cause meaningful technical damage.
The latest retail sales report is due Tuesday morning and is expected to show a 0.5% monthly increase, or 0.3% excluding autos. Investors are also looking ahead to the key jobs report on Wednesday and the consumer price index on Friday.
Portfolio:
We enter today’s session holding setups in PLTU, VELO, SD, and CORZ.
Two major earnings reports are on deck after today’s close: HOOD and NET. Both should provide valuable insight into retail activity and AI-related demand.
Key economic data scheduled for release today includes Retail Sales, Core Retail Sales, the Employment Cost Index, and Import/Export Prices. Markets will be watching closely for signals around consumer spending, wage growth, and inflation pressures.
Software names have been widely “hated” amid AI-related fears, but over the past 48 hours we’ve begun to see a shift in narrative. A growing view is emerging: the biggest risk in software right now isn’t further downside — it’s being short into a face-ripping move higher. Keep this sector on watch, as a potentially massive opportunity may be developing.
