Markets:
Stock futures dipped Thursday after fresh inflation data showed wholesale prices climbing more than expected in July.
On Wednesday, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq notched new intraday and closing record highs, up 0.3% and 0.1%, fueled by a cooler-than-expected July CPI report that sparked hopes for a Fed rate cut in September.
But optimism took a hit after the July Producer Price Index jumped 0.9%—well above the 0.2% forecast and a sharp reversal from June’s flat reading. Since wholesale prices often lead consumer prices, the data cast doubt on an imminent policy shift from the Fed.
Portfolio:
Strong week so far—and we welcome the market’s knee-jerk PPI reaction this morning. This kind of pullback creates pricing opportunities, and we’re ready to pounce. Bonds are holding flat to slightly green while stocks saw a quick dip on the news, adding another layer to this week’s interesting dynamic.
The big picture and trend remain intact. We head into the session holding ONDS, TSLL, and RCAT, with eyes open for fresh entries today. Be ready.
