Markets:
Stock futures were little changed Tuesday after the S&P 500 posted a three-day losing streak, with traders weighing concerns around global trade.
On Monday, shares of key tech companies dragged down the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite to session losses. That decline among tech names also pulled the Nasdaq Composite into negative territory year to date.
Bitcoin prices fell below $90,000 overnight, marking their lowest their lowest level in three months. The blue chip coin is trading almost 20% below its all-time high reached on President Donald Trump’s inauguration day.
Investors are also mulling President Donald Trump’s latest remarks on trade. He said that tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico “will go forward” after the current 30-day moratorium ends.
Wall Street also turned its attention to key earnings reports. Home Depot reported fourth-quarter figures that beat analyst expectations, but the stock shed about 2% in the premarket.
Nvidia is set to report earnings Wednesday after the bell.
On the economic front, investors are turning their attention to the latest U.S. consumer confidence data due out at 10 a.m. ET. Economists polled by Dow Jones are expecting the Conference Board’s consumer confidence index to show a reading of 102.3 for February, less than the previous month’s reading of 104.1.
Portfolio:
We enter today's session holding setups in NVDL. It's abundantly clear that this market is waiting on NVDA tomorrow after the close. If NVDA tanks on earnings, we see a possible capitulation moment for NVDA, semi's and other sectors. We would buy the fear across the market for the next range in motion to the upside again. If it pops after earnings (always expect the unexpected) we immediately go back to retesting the all-time highs in the markets. This is as straight forward as a plan we can present to you. At this point we really don't care too much about what happens we are just ready to attack that opportunity.
Now with all this stated we do have a few things to point out that has occurred over the last several hours. NVDA perfect retracement bounce of 50%. SPY hit 595 and bounced as expected. Bring up a chart on SPY and you see a clear channel off that bounce. Argument can be made the low was set in but too many people see that right now which worries us. Next level below is 590. 600 break and hold to the upside next level we want. You have other names that are extremely oversold and about to explode to the upside, i.e.; TSLA!
Lastly, you have Eric Trump tweeting about an hour ago to "Buy The Dips".
All of this and we have NVDA earnings just sitting there after the close tomorrow. Again, we have no issue with just patiently waiting and getting cash on hand ready to exploit every opportunity that will ignite from this event. Either side, we are ready. We have our plan in place, do not overthink this. Be ready today for other updates.
